The Nature 'Trend'

Plastic has almost become a dirty word nowadays! This certainly applies to children’s toys.  Even the large discount super-stores are getting on board, with wooden toys, baskets and neutral colours lining their shelves.

What is driving this shift?

Is it just a trend?

Is there any science behind the change from primary-coloured landfill to recycled, sustainable ‘loose parts’?

Here are some facts for your consideration:

Wooden toys come from an organic and renewable substance…

Wooden toys have a classic look and tactile feel. ...

Wooden toys are durable and long-lasting. ...

Wooden toys are sustainable and biodegradable….

Wooden toys do not contain any of those BPA nasties…

Wooden toys connect children with nature…

Wooden toys can be refinished and restored as family heirlooms, to be handed down through future generations….

Wooden toys have a soft, natural colour that is calming…

I really like how these guys from Planet Ark lay it out:

Trendy? Yes! But in a good way that is here to stay… the planet will thank us.
